Our team of wonderful volunteers enables us to provide the much needed services to the benefit of everyone. It is not just that they give their time but the manner in which they do it. There is a great kindness and consideration about our group. The activities are full of fun and laughter and this can largely be attributed to the attention that participants receive from the volunteers who are always, kind, caring, considerate and respectful.
My thanks to all of them for their kindness, dedication and hard work. As a charity we could not operate without their continued efforts and support.
X and X from XXXXXX both have a real enthusiasm for our charity and supporting us with funds. They are both full of ideas & advice about developing our business, they are not only interested in fundraising but in understanding the importance of supporting our sustainability as a social business. They see our potential and embrace our values regarding the support of individuals with a learning disability. They were genuinely interested in finding out what we do and where their support was best needed.
XXXXX gives people a lot of pleasure in many ways with the dance once a week, some people come and cannot dance; it’s just a nice afternoon. Plus the day trips out, plus the holidays and other parties. Then we lost the Russells Hall hall, she went out and got us the church hall which we are using at present. It does not seem a lot but it is to a lot of people. The average age is 70 years plus and have been coming for many years.
I have been working with XXXXX for 2 years as her Family Nurse. XXXXX and her partner XXXXX have engaged with enthusiasm and motivation throughout the programme. In a short period of time I realised that XXXXX had such special qualities – she has shown a strength and determination to overcome many challenges that they have faced with little support. She is an amazing mommy to Oscar and a supportive partner to XXXXX. Her kindness to help others, often before herself makes XXXXX a very special person.
Young parents often feel isolated, especially when the parent is low in mood, self-esteem and confidence. XXXXX identified that existing groups often don’t meet the needs of younger parents. XXXXX’s desire to help others and her strength, determination and big heart led her to planning her own group. This was a big step for XXXXX who at the time was low in mood and suffering with anxiety. With little support she sourced a free venue, negotiated toys, refreshments and designed a Facebook Group to promote and support young parents. They meet weekly for the children to play and the parents share valuable experience and support each other.
Why are we nominating XXXXX?
It’s simple – XXXXX is one of the best volunteers ever at XXXXX, is a kind, generous and conscientious member of the team & really deserves recognition!
For many years XXXXX has regularly & reliably volunteered his time in many ways, from helping on Reception, signing in guests at major events, hospitality and many aspects of sustaining the condition of the building via helping with housekeeping tasks as they occur. He rarely needs prompting, being pro-active and aware of needs as they arise. Reliable & prompt to offer help, with his cheerful personality, he has been of great value in many ways, large & small.
XXXXX is a committed champion of the arts. Whether supporting, mentoring or developing through the work of charities or being the driving force behind a range of community arts organisation, his passion and enthusiasm is infectious and he seeks to make a real difference across the arts communities as a whole. From his extensive work with various youth orchestras, bands and choirs he has travelled throughout many parts of the world including Europe, North America, Australia and Africa. He has been the director of several major festivals and was Artistic Director for the visit of the Queen to Dudley in 1994. He was Community Cultural Engagement Producer for the Birmingham leg of the Olympic Torch Relay in 2012.
Since XXXXX joined the charity as a volunteer in 2016, she has quickly become an invaluable asset in the office. With her excellent office skills she supports the administration team at charity HQ. From data input, filing, communications with donors via the phone and letters and generally assisting the busy team, XXXXX is always a welcome sight!
While she has only been with the charity for little over a year, she has made a big impact on the organisation.
